i have abandoned all my dreamy fables and philosophies of romance but one. despite this prosaic existence, i still believe that there is a man out there- sensible and beautiful, who will adore me- neuroses and all! he’ll love my picture addiction and think my pink color obsession is simply endearing. he’ll know who john irving and mary higgins clark are. he’ll proudly dance with me despite my left feet and the freebase beat. he won’t think of me silly for talking and laughing so loud. he’ll listen to all my stories even if i told it a hundred times already. he’ll love my whole being- all of me….till then, it would just be me and my imaginary edward, waiting for the “perfect him”… -J.K.Leynes-Averion 1/13/2013
Most girls have this random, sometimes rather silly fascination toward the same thing:
*the once upon a time picturesque backdrop to every raw love stories
*the happy ever after aftermath
*the ever-dashing knight-in-shining-armor cutie prince to rescue us from the lonesome blues
*mermaids, beasts, castles, fairies, wilderness
*evil step moms, stepsisters or every cruel antagonist the human mind can only deem to imagine
*and basically everything else sprawled-in-between
Boys call it fallacy, girls call it a dream come true. Blame it on Disney, blame it on the Grimm’s Brothers. But in the end, it’s the honest, pure gratification we girls can only dare cling onto upon hearing stories as such. Moreso it’s the hope these stories continuously instill onto us every time the harsh, chaotic realities of the world seep in.
Because most of the time, princes never come galloping with horses in a fancy suit, our dear prince charming won’t track us down every time our shoe comes missing and a century’s old laden kiss cannot necessarily dispel any damning curses thrown our way. Sometimes, princes can be found making waves in the kitchen and this techy thing called the “internet” can draw wonders and bind two pretty people together despite the distance, just like the the dashing groom and the blushing bride who tied the knot one week ago.
I was a tacit witness to their blossoming romance then and I am very much grateful to have shared that momentous occasion with the two of them.
And in the end, no matter how long and hard the procession towards that final destination maybe, still we have to keep the faith and be patient. Coz nobody ever said it was going to be easy but at the end of the day, winning someone else’s heart is worth every drop of tear you have shed over a failed love and every second you have spent waiting.
Until then, Congratuations Mr. and Mrs. Averion. This marriage is yet another testimony of the concrete and binding force of love. Despite the distance, despite the long and arduous wait, love prevails.
P.S This is what i call the recycled wedding coz I wasn’t able to buy a new dress for the occasion. Instead, I wore Maica’s old dress and mom had the exact dress I personally purchased for our annual RCDC Hawaiian -themed Induction last October 1, 2012.
2012 Highlights..
January- just the usual.work and work. nothing that much exciting for this month.
February- ‘twas love month once again and as usual, i celebrated it loveless. good thing i had my RCDC peeps to somehow ease up the lonesome blues this loveless month of love brought. this was taken feb 14,2012 after a day’s worth of planting trees (thank you OMPH). on a Dream High marathon hiatus.
March- happy 23rd bday to me and my twin sis.it’s been 23 years and here we are.
April-start of a crazy round of driving lessons at San Teodoro.i know it’s very late but anywayz i learned fairly fast enough. thank you Tito Badjun, Tito Juancho and Kuya Stewart for being super patient with me though I was one hell of a student.
May- Anawangin adventure with Porey Online barkada. yey! first out of town trip with the barkada and we embarked on a journey to a majestic cove at Zambales. until next time peeps. you certainly are the greatest travel buddies ever. fyi, another round of soaping session at work bcoz of this but it was all very much worth it.. 
*acquired my very own driver’s license this month. yey. i was officially cerftified to create major traffic havocs, stressful traffic jams, travel at breakneck speed and engage in tricky heated arguments along the road. (very responsible driver there right?).
June- started being active in RCDC. attended the annual Rotary induction ceremonies at Batangas with them.infair they unleashed out the writer in me once again which took a backseat for 2 yrs. thanks so much for believing in me and in my writing skills. 
July- *Mandarin classes here we go, my secretarial stint for RCDC, sleepover and hang-out with my girlfriends also commence. lastly, voila gym buff me. (and my fitness inspiration? none other than ms. solenn heussaff) 
August- i know the Porey online barkadas are certified nature and galaan lovers and we just can’t get enough. to make the most out of another loong vacation (fyi reg workers have such things we people from the med field don’t, sucks i know) though we had another getaway spree this time at our very own San Teodoro.
September-kickboxing month, Buktot escapades with OMPH peeps. ‘twas the very first time i got wasted over a random drinking spree and got reprimanded bcoz of it but i always live up to my motto: that i should live life to the fullest, engage myself in tricky sometimes even thoughtless situations time and time again. hey, i shall only be young once. 
October-party overload i think this was the baptism of fire for me as the newly converted party animal. from the Induction ceremonies to the Oktoberfest to the Mardi Gras party i certainly just couldn’t party any less.
November- partied my way through the whole month again and started being active at Red Cross.
December- greatest month of the year ever. was actively involved in three orgs, made the Red Cross headquarters my second home because of the Salong Dagitab contest add that up to work, gymming and kickboxing sessions and the countless party commitments i’ve had and what do you get? a busy yet very fun-filled December.

Last night’s results are in! Team RCVV did it. The young underdogs have finally beaten the titans. lol. But in all fairness we did it because of three things (acc.to Kuya Drew):
1.hardwork
2.prayers
3.bula bibig
and the recipient’s of this year’s salong dagitaban canada wininter-kuno awards:(drum roll please)are the ff:
*the lasenggerang Mary slash borlogs award- Maica Angelle Feraren for displaying a wasted-its-finest-i-shouldn’t-have-drunk-with-the-Medward experts moment during the climactic final judging hype. while we battled hunger, boredom, exhaustion, nervousness and several other things she was inside the chapter office imagine what she was doing: sleeping like there’s no tomorrow. good thing she was replaced as Mary. haha. :) 
*the binagnas pawis na dasho award-Mervyn Jef delos Reyes for receiving the most touch-ups from our instant makeup queen dur the night (coz the orig makeup expert was an angel. haha.imagine, his eyelinered illusional beard was redone for the nth time. haha.. 
*the emping Jose award (short for MP or mukhang pera)-Prince de Guzman who did not shy away from asking the live belen audience (with matching impromptu dance) for donations in our ever trusty red volunteer run coin bank. infair Prince you are a nurse-entrep in the making. :) 
*the hakot chikas award- Mark Levi Rosales yeah he’s the live belen certified hearthrob. even St.Joseph and the other kings were placed in the sidelines for a while every time a group of dazed gals walks in our tableau for photo-ops 
*the ever daring St. Joseph award-Harvey John Tolentino for having the shortest hemline and the lowest neckline amongst all the live belen participants. wow pwede na sa FGM! For Gay Magazine hahahahaha.. :)
*the instant promotion award-Jhomar Duag from sheperd aka alipin to one of the 3 kings (or in Merv’s words: dasho) need i say more? 
*discovery award of the salong dagitab season for singing-Obet Buenaventura Maligo i never thought someone as silent as him can belt out those tunes and hymns like a pro. way to go mr. singer. 
*the most popular award for the night-Don Andrew Palomaria the best Santa Claus ever. infair, most of the peeps last night were flocking near him instead of having their pics taken with the live belen tableau cast. in short, eksena ang lolo mo. haha. :) 
*the Solenn Heussaff wannabe award (coz im the look-alike.haha)-Gladys Laiza Padrilan for being the night’s on the spot make-up artist, errand girl, waitress, entertainer, impromptu dance queen. she was our equally gorgeous touch-up gal for the night. infair, even our touch-up queen is pretty. 
*the swarovski queen award-Mara Ancelle E. Feraren the crystals on my face is what made me (in Mervs words) the not so kind but very gorgeous angel that night.those were authentic swarovskis lol much which i purchased for 8 pesos lol much. 
*the bula bibig super saiyan award-Jojo Villao Manansala our director, photographer, stylist, dressmaker,Construction worker, Architect, Talent Manager, Contractor, Scavenger, pati Long sleeves & Boots Donor. imagine using del as shampoo before 6pm and coming out with his hair raised looking exactly like a complete saiyan couple that with his haggard last hour rush moments. anyways, all of this would not have been possible if it weren’t for him who was the most hardworking and dedicated vain volunteer ever. cheers! 
*and let’s not forget our dear yaya Don Facundo for cheering us all during our down times and for assisting us in our quest for winning (vain volunteer style) though he’s just fictional hahaha.
fyi guyz: we had a vey good looking vain live belen cast last night. even the spectators were amused. hahaha. i guess all the vanity finally paid off this time. we also had the best santa claus.
and in all fairness guyz, we really put up a good fight. in terms of ingenuity, resourcefulness and teamwork we should be dubbed as the winners. being top1 in our cluster is already a huge achievement for us having battled out a set of great displays but the results of last night only proves one thing, that hardwork and teamwork can move mountains. we maybe young and under-budgeted and we didn’t have that much carpenters to do almost all the dirty work for us but our drive for success is really commendable. all of this because we are intertwined by a common thing: our vanity. hahahah.. :)
and thank you Mam Guada and Red Cross staff for being so supportive! :)
